Yoga for Pirates Book

The text for Yoga for Pirates comes from a song of the same name, the music for which accompanies the book in CD form and is available to readers via digital download. Words in the lyrics reference yoga poses, and take readers through a cycle of Sun Salutation. Each spread features a song lyric with the yoga poses highlighted. Below the text are labeled illustrations of the poses. Each page of lyrics and poses is paired with a page with illustrations of the lyrics in the context of the story of two kids and their adventure with pirates.

Ryan sent me scanned illustrations, which I cleaned up using Adobe Photoshop and formatted in Adobe InDesign. I chose the fonts. The majority of the design work was done to meet specific requests from Ryan.

Yoga For Pirates CD

I created the sleeve for the Yoga for Pirates CD sleeve in Adobe InDesign.

I used one of Ryan’s paintings as inspiration for the image on the CD, which I made in Adobe Illustrator. I wanted the CD to have a consistent style with the CD for Ryan’s previous children’s album, Mr. Mop and the Mountain of Muck. To create stylistic similarity, I made the text and image in white over a vibrant solid-colored background.

Show Posters

Ryan asked me to create posters for the Yoga for Pirates book release. One poster goes through each pose to salute the sun in order, using illustrations from the book. The other two posters provided information about the book release party and feature the book’s cover illustration. Ryan wanted one poster with a picture of himself to put in communities familiar with his work, and another without his picture for more general distribution.
